Copenhagen to Florence by Train

Today was easily the best way to start one of my Via Francigena weeks.

For every journey so far I’ve had to pack my bike away in a bag (or rent a bike and organise pickup) and carry the bike around train stations and airports. There’s something wrong with having to carry the thing that is going to carry you.

So there was something magical about today: I got to cycle to the train station in Copenhagen and cycle off in Florence, with a few connections here and there. For me this is how travelling with a bike should be but there’s far too few trains in Europe that you can take bikes on, especially the high speed services.
