Ærøskøbing to Blans Havn (via Langeland), Day 3

More ferries, pretty towns and beautiful countryside. About 60km today and a much flatter 240m of climbing. Ending at the highlight of our trip, Blans Havn.

Breakfast from the town bakery has to be recommended, only beaten by eating it on the dedicated gravel track between Ærøskøbing and Marstal.

Ferry 4. Marstal on Ærø to Rudkøbing on Langeland. Runs every couple of hours or so, takes almost an hour I think.

Yes I know, yet another pretty Danish market town. This time Rudkøbing.

Langeland is a long thin island (lange = long) at 50-60km. But the ferry from Ærø arrives right in the middle on one side, and the ferry to Lolland leaves from the middle on the other side, perhaps less than 10km from each other. We didn’t have time to stay longer, perhaps another time.

Ferry 5. Spodsbjerg on Langeland to Tårs on Lolland. Runs about every couple of hours, takes around 40-50 minutes.

Nakskov sells some of the biggest ice creams I’ve ever seen. We couldn’t finish these.

Our accommodation for the night: Blans Havn. Shelters hidden in the trees with our own private bathing bridge. This place was quiet and sublime; it’s part of a small community owned harbour with places for showers and toilets. There’s two new shelters for guests to overnight in next to the boat sheds.

The view from our shelter, a small campfire area. There’s no shops for miles so be sure to stock up. We were lucky the previous shelter tennants had left some remaining firewood (firewood is tricky to carry many km on a bike) so we managed to cook our sausages just fine.
